New Arrivals!

...I've officially become obsessed with Lost. Someone lent us season 1, and we watched it in a weeks time. I'm hooked. Nice job. Not much good on TV right now, so Lost it is. Now, using iTunes and my dwindling bank accound, I can catch up and start watching Season 2 with everyone else. Anyways, I've just received some new arrivals to my collection in the mail today. One for history, one for collecting, one a new album by someone i like, one a recommendation I've not heard yet. And, they are:

2. for Collecting: MF Doom presents Special Herbs the Box Set (limited release, too)

3. new album: Cat Power - The Greatest

4. Recommendation: Animal Collective - feels

best confirmation ever...

..a friend of mine bought a CD from an online company called CDBABY.com. He received this confirmation of shipping email, which he shared with me. CDBABY is now my favorite online music retailer. Read on, Baby!

Your CD has been gently taken from our CD Baby shelves with sterilized contamination-free gloves and placed onto a satin pillow.

A team of 50 employees inspected your CD and polished it to make sure it was in the best possible condition before mailing.

Our packing specialist from Japan lit a candle and a hush fell over the crowd as he put your CD into the finest gold-lined box that moneycan buy.

We all had a wonderful celebration afterwards and the whole party marched down the street to the post office where the entire town of Portland waved 'Bon Voyage!' to your package, on its way to you, in our private CD Baby jet on this day, Thursday, January 12th.

I hope you had a wonderful time shopping at CD Baby. We sure did. Your picture is on our wall as 'Customer of the Year'. We're all exhausted but can't wait for you to come back to CDBABY.COM!!

'tis the time....

.....2005 is officially over. And in the land of music, that means it's time for the top 10 lists. You know, those lists us geeks put together of our favorite albums of the year, stuff that sucked, so on and so forth. I got involved in a lovely top 10 email chain, which prompted me to get on my itunes, figure out which albums actually came out this year that i bought (since i listen to more old than new, lately), and which ones were the best. I'll tell you this, 2005 was not an impressive year for music as far as I can tell. Not a whole lot came out worth listening to that i've heard. But, here is the list. Feel free to email me or comment with your own list, if you'd like, and I'll post em!

Hobb's top albums of 2005
1. Boards of Canada - The Campfire Headphase
2. The Books - Lost and Safe
3. Caribou - The Milk of Human Kindness
4. Caribou - Tour only CD
5. Dangerdoom - The Mouse and the Mask (its got aquateen hunger force on it, yo!)
6. The Free Design - The Now Sound Redesigned (classic 60's redone by modernists)
7. Edan - Beauty and the Beat (The Best Damn HipHop Record I've heard in a WHILE)
8. Fischerspooner - Odyssey
9. Koushik - Be With
